have we built general intelligence?

i think we have. i look around me. people i work with. family. friends. people i look up to. i've seen enough to believe the thing in my pocket is smarter than all of them. better at solving problems. better at researching. better at finding patterns. better at explaining things.

we taught sand how to think. sand. think. that's kinda insane.

and if life is just intelligence that copies itself forward, did we make life too?

we're still in the middle of the transition. there will be problems. there will be policy changes. there will be acceleration.

no kid born today will grow up smarter than the model already in my pocket. ten years from now, completely different ball game. that's kinda scary.

i used to think my worth came from turning ideas into things. there's an idea, i build it. idea to product. the latest models will obliterate me at that.

so what's left? am i just a thinker now?
